Meet the Decathletes: David Lazarus
April 27, 2015
1. Please tell us the name of your firm, title, and describe your role in one sentence. Trillium Trading LLC -- Senior Vice President of Trading. I run the Miami office.
2. What are your fundraising and athletic goals for The Decathlon, and what led you to choose them? My goal when I signed up was to do 25 pull-ups. After training for 4 months I am hoping to do more. When I started training in January I could do 18. I hope to raise $5,000.
3. On average, a Decathlete receives donations from 34 supporters. What fundraising technique(s) have worked best for you that you would recommend to first-time participants? I sent an e-blast from the Decathlon website which I personalized and gave more info about the event. I also had the head of HR at my firm send an e-mail out to the whole firm from which I also got many sponsors, especially challenges for number of pull-ups.
4. Most Decathletes have participated in mud runs, 5k’s, and triathlons. What differentiates The Wall Street Decathlon experience from those other events? It's my first time [competing]. I'm looking forward to seeing how well I can do compared to other people my age.
5. How will you define success for yourself at this year's event? My goal is to get 5000 points and finish at the top of my age group. If I can achieve either of those goals I will be happy.
