I am dedicating this year’s Decathlon effort to my mother-in-law and son. My mother-in-law is currently battling breast cancer and kicking its butt. She has gone through many doctor appointments, MRI scans, blood work and other tests, surgery, and now radiation treatments. It has not been an easy thing for our family to go through. As an educated woman with many life experiences, she can understand what is happening and why, with a certain perspective. I then think about my son, who is about to turn two years old. It is very difficult to imagine going through such a process from the perspective of a child. I then think about my role as a parent – trying to answer questions and providing comfort and support. Pediatric cancer is an ordeal that I wish no child or family would ever have to endure.
I am blessed to work in the investing world and have the support of a wonderful firm in White Oak Global Advisors. In my day-to-day job, I interact with many law firms, accounting firms, and consulting firms. I have been able to leverage these relationships to marshal support for the fight against pediatric cancer. I am proud to represent my firm and to represent the D10 mission as I market the fundraising for this year’s San Francisco D10. Further, I am honored to be able to pull together these resources to provide meaningful funds for pediatric cancer research.
I am grateful to be a part of the D10 community and excited to continue building San Francisco’s impact on the fight against pediatric cancer.
