1. Please tell us the name of your firm, title, and describe your role in one sentence. At Wells Fargo, I work in Depository Strategies working with depository institutional customers to provide sector-specific market insights and identify broader industry trends that may affect their investment portfolio. I deliver quantifiable balance sheet management recommendations as well as provide solutions and ideas tailored to specific investment needs.

2. What are your fundraising and athletic goals for The Decathlon, and what led you to choose them? As for athletic goals, I'd like to break 59 seconds on the 400-meter run, and run sub 4.7-seconds on the 40-yard dash. Fundraising-wise, I would like to raise more than $6,500 which would be a 30 percent increase over prior years.

3. On average, a Decathlete receives donations from 34 supporters. What fundraising technique(s) have worked best for you that you would recommend to first-time participants? Start early! I like to keep steady growth which I believe helps when giving updates and presenting to new potential donors. Momentum can be a huge factor, especially if you encourage people to help you meet certain milestones along the way. I would also think that alongside having 34 unique donors, the average participant gets more than 50 percent of their donations in the 3 weeks leading up to the event. That’s the final push. During that time, I split my donors into groups. I will reach out to one group a day every day during that period of time and just be relentless.

4. Most Decathletes have participated in mud runs, 5k’s, and triathlons. What differentiates The Wall Street Decathlon experience from those other events? This is my third Decathlon. I love the training, the fundraising and the day of competition, but quietly my favorite moment is staring jaw dropped at my computer screen a few days after the event and seeing how much money was raised by the dedicated men and women in finance. It is truly astounding.

5. What’s the one piece of advice about The Decathlon that you’d share with first-time participants? Competition day is a much more difficult day than you expect and can be quite tiring despite having ample rest in between events. Bring snacks, drink a lot of water and bring multiple kinds of footwear for the various events.
