What is your primary motivator for competing in The D10 events?
My primary motivator for competing in The D10 comes from documentaries I watched about a young kid named Lukas “Dutch Destroyer” Kusters and Tyler Trent who both passed away from cancer. Both documentaries moved me to help. The D10 provides me with the means to assist within an area of passion for me: fitness.
How much of your motivation for participating in The D10 stems from its charitable mission?
I would say a majority of my motivation for participating in The D10 is rooted in its charitable mission. Being able to participate with my co-workers has also been a great motivator. Working at such a large institution it is always good to connect with different colleagues for such a great cause. The D10 is a win-win situation for me.
How did you first get involved in The D10?
I got involved with The D10 through Christian Schultz. I always ran into him at the office gym and he would always tell me about The D10. He convinced me to give it a go. This is my first year. I'm ready.
Yep, D10 New York, Tunde is coming for you in 2019. Get in the gym!
How has The D10 been different from your collegiate or high school sports experiences in terms of training and motivation?
There have been minimal differences between my collegiate training and motivational experience as compared to preparing for The D10. The D10 requires greater collaboration with the fundraising aspect of the season, but it is also more motivational knowing that you are competing for a greater cause.
In what ways has your participation in The D10 affected or enhanced your performance at work?
Training for The D10 provides me with greater energy to face the long days of my industry.
Have you made new lasting friendships, or strengthened your professional network, as a result of your D10 experience?
I have built some meaningful relationships and expanded my professional network with other D10 participants as we train together a few days every week. I'm looking forward to meeting even more fellow athletes and colleagues as the season continues and game day arrives.
