As we continue to explore the amazing nutritional benefits of mushrooms, here is a bit of insight on the remaining top mushrooms on the market:

Reishi.
Admittedly, I don’t have experience with this fungus. It’s found in Traditional Chinese Medicines and is touted as the “mushroom of immortality.” It’s considered to be a powerful antioxidant that may improve liver function as well.  

Maitake. The maitake contains beta-glucans (2). Beta-glucans are considered powerful boosters of the immune system. While the benefits don’t manipulate hormones, it can help optimize the immune system. A healthier, stronger immune system recovers quicker from those taxing workouts. Research suggests these benefits can occur by consuming 50mg-150mg of Maitke per day.  

Mushrooms, in many cases can serve as a viable “P.E.D” to maximize recovery, and training performance. Research shows that these little nuggets of fungus can go a long way in living a healthier lifestyle.
