1. Please tell us the name of your firm, title, and describe your role in one sentence. Barclays, Operations Analyst – Graduate Program.

2. What are your fundraising and athletic goals for The Decathlon, and what led you to choose them? My goal for the event is to raise $5,000. What led me to this goal after spending time at Memorial Sloan Kettering pediatrics unit two summers ago as one of our close family friends, Tommy Veilkind underwent treatment. I was amazed by the level of care and commitment MSKCC has towards their patients and wanted to set the bar high for myself.

3. On average, a Decathlete receives donations from 34 supporters. What fundraising technique(s) have worked best for you that you would recommend to first-time participants? I held a bake sale at Barclays where I took orders via email. I baked for one week straight, with chocolate and flour covering most of my kitchen each evening. I made cake pops, bacon paleo cookies, brownies, avocado based treats, etc. The response was wonderful! Many people from my team and other teams contributed.

4. Most Decathletes have participated in mud runs, 5k’s, and triathlons. What differentiates The Wall Street Decathlon experience from those other events? Prior to the decathlon, I completed the Chicago Marathon back to back years (2013 and 2014). I thought the training for that was tough! This training has been a different beast, incorporating strength and sheer mental fortitude. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever prepared for, but extremely rewarding. You know the saying “You’re stronger than you think”? That applies well to the Wall Street Decathlon.

5. What’s the one thing about The Decathlon that you’d share with others? I would say that attending the workouts with other Decathletes really motivated me and taught me training techniques. Had I not attended, I may not be as aware of what I’m up against in June. Also, I have met some wonderful people.

6. How have you been training for this year's event? I’m up each morning at 4:45am to workout. I do a mixture of cardio and strength, but generally I attend classes -- Exceed, Barry’s Boot Camp, Tone House, Row House and Drill Fit are among my favorites. They push me to my limits. Additionally, I incorporate spinning, Pilates, and yoga once a week to keep myself in balance.

7. Decathletes are motivated by the cause, the competition, and the camaraderie. What inspirational quote -- not from Anchorman -- motivates you? I’m a big Warren Buffet fan. I was out at his annual shareholder meeting in Omaha, NE this past weekend and he had many brilliant things to say. However, one of my favorites is in regards to generosity: “If you’re in the luckiest 1 percent of humanity, you owe it to the rest of humanity to think about the other 99 percent.”
