What is your primary motivator for competing in The D10 events?
First and foremost, I'm interested in helping out Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the children affected by this horrible disease. My second motivation is all things competitive. I'm still learning my way around New York City, and trying to immerse myself in a variety of arenas with other competitive minded athletic individuals. The D10 is perfect.

How much of your motivation for participating in The D10 stems from its charitable mission?
This is really the be-all for me. The charitable component of The D10 is a 10 out of 10 for me on the scale of importance. Giving and charity in general is important to me. The specific cause of MSKCC motivates me to train hard, compete hard, and to work hard raising money for this incredibly important fight.

How did you first get involved in The D10?
I first learned about The D10 through my co-workers at The Training Lab here in New York. A number of gyms and fitness centers in the area put together teams to battle it out in The D10. The Training Lab is no exception. I'm honored to be part of the TTL D10 Team this year, along with Shelly Mady, Jenny Cheung, and Jolis Rodriguez. We are going to raise some money and kick some butt.

How has The D10 been different from your collegiate or high school sports experiences in terms of training and motivation?
This event is unlike any other sports event I've ever trained for. I am challenged not only physically, but mentally like perhaps I haven't been before. Competitive cheerleading was a beast! But The D10 asks even more. Training for ten events, and knowing the level of the competition in each, makes this the greatest training and workout challenge I've faced before.

In what ways has your participation in The D10 affected or enhanced your performance at work?
While training can be exhausting in the moment, overall, it's incredibly energizing for your body and soul. Luckily for me, my work place and my workout place are one in the same. For me, going to the "office" means getting work done in preparation for The D10.

Have you made new lasting friendships, or strengthened your professional network, as a result of your D10 experience?
Absolutely. I've made a bunch of new friends and contacts within the fitness world here in New York through my participation in training for my first D10. This process has inspired me to become a much more positive and outgoing member of the fitness community here. I can't wait to see my friendships and connections grow.
